Teacher of Science
We are currently looking to recruit a Science teacher to join a highly successful department in delivering courses at KS3, 4 and 5 in single and combined sciences (GCSE/ A Level). The Science department is a well-established, highly effective and successful department that aims to instil students with a lifelong love of scientific process and learning. We teach science as a core subject throughout the school and offer combined and individual science pathways at KS4 and 5.
We welcome applications from science specialists that can demonstrate high levels of creativity and innovation. The ideal candidate will be emotionally intelligent, highly motivated and will be willing to take measured risks to deliver an exciting and engaging curriculum that develops high levels of scientific knowledge and application. We offer an additional pay award for staff that perform at an outstanding level as part of our appraisal review process.
Situated only 5 minutes from the M26 and M20, these excellent transport links enable staff to travel from East Kent, Surrey and South London.
Our students make excellent progress and are well behaved as recognised in our Ofsted reports, which also report that the school works at an outstanding level and regularly receive high praise and support from parents. We are proud to have a committed and stable staff team who are highly thought of by students and parents.
Personal Specification
Required
- A passion for exciting and engaging lessons that apply real world skills to creative projects.
- A working understanding of assessment and moderation of GCSE and A level Science.
- A desire and determination to achieve outstanding results by working with all students to maximise their progress and attainment.
- A commitment to our ethos as a recognised ‘’School of Character’’.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with staff across our small trust.
- A general keenness and enthusiasm for extracurricular activity and school visits/trips and enrichment activity.
Desirable
- A track record of success in teaching Science at KS4 and 5.
- Experience of moderating Science coursework and exam papers at KS4 and 5.
- Exam board training and knowledge of a range of relevant qualifications.
