Grant funding success that generates additional income for capital projects

Wrotham-School-Cookery

Being part of a Trust that has developed strong skills and experience at writing successful grant funding bids for education generates additional income for capital projects.

We heavily support our schools with this work so that Headteachers and other school leaders can focus in the quality of education.

Here are some examples of our grant funding success:

£1.8M

New sports hall
development

£30K

Food & cookery
course development

£1M+

Buildings & facilities
maintenance

Wrotham School has never had a sports hall and has existed with only a one court gym since being built in the 1950. The Trust used its experience in successful bid writing for capital funding to identify a project manager who had recently written a successful bid for a similar project. The Trust team worked quickly to write bid at short notice following a government announcement that there would be some grant funding available for sports related projects. The bid was successful and a new four court facility is under construction and almost complete.

Aylesford School was keen to develop its curriculum offer for catering courses after a Professional Chef course in the sixth form had proved very popular. The Trust supported the school with the completion of the bid by providing evidence for school improvement planning and curriculum design. The bid was successful.

The Trust is now supporting the school by working with curriculum leaders and contractors to achieve the vision of developing a new professional standard training kitchen and restaurant.

Wrotham School has suffered from years of under investment due to low levels of capital funding. It converted to academy status in 2013, and since then has taken advantage of the academy only Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) The Trust has had a number of successful CIF bids which have funded significant works. For example, full replacement of extensive flat roofing; full replacement of curtain walling (windows and UPVC panels) to the main building, new fire doors throughout, new flooring for corridors and stairs. These works have transformed the oldest building on the site into a bright and comfortable teaching environment, as well as significantly reducing heating costs.
