Character Trust professional development

Opportunities within the Trust

Joining the Character Education Trust is an opportunity to be part of a family of schools that work in a collaborative culture of shared values.

Opportunities for your School

To work as a family of schools, sharing best
practice, developing collaboration and creating school improvement together.

The opportunity to help shape primary provision in the local area.

Opportunities in the Trust

Choose and help shape your future now, rather than being forced to join a MAT
in the future.

The opportunity to help shape how your school and governing body works within the Trust (It is unlikely that any other Trust will offer you this opportunity).

The opportunity for a governor to take
a seat on the Trust Board – this provides assurance that you can continue to influence the strategic direction and governance structures of the Trust into
the future (It is unlikely that other Trusts will offer you this opportunity).

Opportunities for students

All students from age 2 to 18, attending schools in the Trust will benefit from a consistent focus on developing their character, values and academic success. Working in a cross-phase Trust enables schools to work together to provide excellent transition arrangements.

Joining the Trust would mean preferential admission to our secondary schools. (Both Wrotham and Aylesford are the local school of choice; both are oversubscribed; both aiming for outstanding in their next Ofsted).

The opportunity to further develop the values/character curriculum for the benefit of students, staff and families.

Access to an even wider selection of great resources for your students, ranging from excellent sports facilities, a new theatre, to specialist workshops and science labs.

Wrotham School is being rebuilt leading to even greater facilities.

Leadership opportunities

Support and challenge for school leaders who are exposed to a more diverse group of leaders that look beyond Kent for school improvement ideas. This keeps leaders fresh and engaged so that they can continue to have the impact the students deserve in their school and beyond.

An in-house, cross-Trust leadership development programme that has already has a successful track record, and the opportunity to help shape how this develops.

Space to allow your Headteacher to focus on their role with support.

Human Resources

Out Trust HR team can support you with the complete HR function; from our in-house payroll to HR issues, as well as recruitment. We are committed to staff well-being as well as being an employer of equal opportunities, and supporting diversity and inclusion in our staff teams.

Financial opportunities

The opportunity to bid for up to two Condition Improvement Fund – capital projects up to the value of £4 million.
This is in addition to the devolved formula capital income your school would still receive (We have had great success with CIF and would provide significant support).

The opportunity to work with a qualified accountant. Our FD worked as an accountant in the commercial world, before coming to work for us. He also has many years’ experience as a school governor.

The opportunity to make further savings in your school in the future as we work together to develop what resources we can share.

Facilities Management

Our Trust facilities team bring great knowledge and experience to ensure
we get the best out of our facilities.
They will support you with maintenance, improvement, health and safety and modern building management systems.

A Character Education

We support character education development throughout our schools and our experienced school leaders can help you explore how character education can have a positive impact in your schools.

We are proud that Wrotham School has been awarded the Character Education Quality Mark and Aylesford School was one of first schools in the country to achieve the Character Education Quality Mark Plus.
